The Veronicas Announce New Single ‘In My Blood’ Out June 10!

You know that first rush of love, the intoxicating buzz automatically generated by meeting someone special? Pop artisans The Veronicas have freeze-framed that precise moment in their thrilling new single, ‘In My Blood’.

As announced by The Veronicas this morning, ‘In My Blood’ is available for pre-order now ahead of its release on June 10 through Sony Music Entertainment Australia. ‘In My Blood’ marks not only the first taste of The Veronicas upcoming fourth studio album, but is also the first song they wrote for it.

“It’s that elated, euphoric feeling of love at first sight. Love and adrenalin are rushing through your blood. It’s like a chemical injection. You’ve instantly connected with someone. You’re knocked out by this person.” – Jessica & Lisa Origliasso ‘In My Blood’ see The Veronicas once again teaming up with Australian song-writers and producers David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii of DNA Songs, the team behind their 2014 hit ‘You Ruin Me’.

‘You Ruin Me’ debuted at No.1 on the ARIA Singles Chart (their second chart topper after ‘Hook Me Up’ in 2007) and sold over 200,000 copies going triple platinum. It became their second UK Top 10 hit (behind ‘Untouched’ in 2009) and went Top 40 on the US Adult Contemporary chart. ‘If You Love Someone’ and ‘Cruel’, also lifted from their platinum self-titled album, followed ‘You Ruin Me’ up the charts, and in 2015 the sisters embarked on their Sanctified headline tour of Australia and the UK.

Tomorrow, Thursday May 19th, marks the 25th anniversary that Daryl Braithwaite’s iconic song, ‘The Horses’, reached the #1 position on the ARIA singles chart. This is a remarkable feat for any artist, and ‘The Horses’ uniquely is a song that is still relevant today, as it was then.

‘The Horses’ was written by Rickie Lee Jones and Walter Becker (Steely Dan) and featured New Zealand songstress Margaret Urlich on vocals.

On this significant anniversary, Daryl Braithwaite said, “I would never of thought that 25 years down the track that ‘The Horses’, a song that I heard quite by accident and then recorded, would be liked by so many people for so many different reasons, for this I am eternally grateful. I am sure that Rickie Lee Jones and Walter Becker could never imagine how endearing the song would and has become. My thanks to Sony Music and Simon Hussey and everyone involved with the recording.”

Denis Handlin AM, Chairman and CEO of Australia & New Zealand and President Asia Sony Music Entertainment comments; “Daryl Braithwaite is a true legend of the Australian music Industry. From his early days in Sherbet to his magnificent solo career, Daryl continues to appeal to generations of Australians. His classic song ‘The Horses’ is more popular now than it ever was, twenty five years later.”

The album RISE from which ‘The Horses’ was taken, was the #1 ARIA album of 1991 and is certified 4 x platinum (source: ARIA Charts).

After nearly 15 years away from the recording studio, Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett today announces the details of his debut solo album, ’A Version of Now’. The chorus of the opening track ‘Tall Trees’ – really says it all … “I’m back!”

As the singer, songwriter, and former politician explains, this is a particularly personal project and one which initially happened by accident. “As I was finishing my memoir, melodies and lines kept dropping into my head and, big surprise, I ended up writing a few songs. Once these tunes were out in the sunlight I decided I might as well jump into a studio and record what I had along with a few other bits and pieces I’d always liked.“

‘A Version of Now’ will be released on Friday July 15th through Sony Music Entertainment Australia while ’Tall Trees’, the first taste from the album is being released digitally today.
In true Garrett style the nine songs on ‘A Version of Now’ are an uncompromisingly direct set of tunes. They were tracked over just a few weeks last January at Rancom Street studios in Botany (Sydney) with Canadian born musician and acclaimed producer Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, The Drones, Sarah Blasko and more). Mixing happened at Harry Vanda’s Hercules Studios shortly thereafter making for a raw collection of frank and fearless songs.

“I wanted to capture my version of now” says Garrett when asked to explain the album title. “The songs are reflections of turbulent decades on the rack, and the people and things that meant the most to me.”

The core band involved in making the album was Martin Rotsey (Midnight Oil) on guitar with Pete Luscombe (RockWiz, Paul Kelly) on drums and Mark Wilson (Jet) on bass. Heather Shannon (The Jezabels) and Jamie Hutchings (Bluebottle Kiss) joined in too as did all three of Peter’s daughters – Emily, May and Grace – who sang and played on some of the key tracks. ‘A Version of Now’ takes the listener on a candid remembrance trail; the tone both stridently distinctive and unexpectedly tender, as one of the greatest front men in Australian rock reflects on his motives, his losses and gains and finds his resolve – surprise — utterly unbowed.

This is Peter Garrett as you’ve never heard him. Songs of love, songs of home and sweet memories chafe against songs of relentless resistance with, as ever, a steely eye on a better future.

‘Peter Garrett: A Version of Now (The Full Story)’, premiers exclusively on
MAX at 9:30pm on Tuesday July 12th 2016
