Following his fire debut single ‘Take 1’, Western Sydney artist CG Fez today releases his second track ‘Take 2’ through hip-hop legend Hau Latukefu’s label Forever Ever and Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
Produced, mixed and mastered by i.amsolo, who built the track around keys played by producer and instrumentalist Sollyy (Becca Hatch and Spvrrow), the soundscape dips and dives in a journey through passionate lyrics and various musical styles.
“With ‘Take 1’ showing the reality of some brutal Western Sydney suburbs, it was important to also show the reality of consequences that we may have faced”, says CG Fez. “This lifestyle’s no fairy-tale.”
The multi-talented Fez also directed the track’s video – watch here.
Whether the soundscape is traditional boom bap, bass-heavy trap or UK Drill-inspired, CG Fez takes listeners on a journey through his stomping grounds and into a world of triumph and pain using only his vocabulary and conviction – weaving through each instrument with ease, but with purpose. He is never too proud to address his shortcomings and never too shy to talk about his beliefs.
Western Sydney – which has become a global talking point thanks to its established hip-hop scene – is the inspiration, but to inspire the world is the aspiration.
Born into a family of a Tongan mother, a Turkish father, and four older brothers, CG Fez knows the importance of love, understanding, hardships and empathy. The truth is in the lyrics and CG Fez is that truth.
