The Singing Cobbler Returns!
Following the chart-topping success of his debut album 'Boots And All', tenor Peter Brocklehurst returns with his sensational new collection, 'For You', named after being inundated with requests from fans for classical takes of their favourite songs!
Australian tenor Peter Brocklehurst continues his incredible journey with the release of his stunning new album 'For You'. This eclectic collection of classical tracks follows the amazing success of his debut LP, 'Boots And All', which topped the ARIA Classical Chart earlier this year. Inundated by requests, the self-dubbed singing cobbler was moved to make an album of fan favourites with a contemporary classical feel.

"This time round I was given the opportunity to record a mixture of songs that really represent my spirit in music," explains Brocklehurst. "You have to be really careful on how you use the word crossover nowadays. I don't want to upset the purists by taking away any prospect of me being a serious classical singer, but by the same token it's not about how grand you are and how fantastic you sing it's about wanting to connect with people."

'For You' was recorded over two months at Melbourne's Metropolis Audio Studios, a far cry from his debut effort, which was created in just four days. More than 180 musicians contributed to the project including some of the industry's most respected artists. Old friends and even family members played a role in what Brocklehurst describes as a fusion of new and exciting arrangements of wonderful love songs and operatic arias sung from the heart.

"I think it's really important that people know that this album comes from within," he says. "It comes from inside of me and it is basically a make up of my true personality. I really wanted to connect with people on this album, to take the stuffiness out of opera and take that classical sound to the street. I want people to know that this is the true Peter Brocklehurst. This is not anyone else's concoction. I picked every track myself, I co produced them I directed them I ruminated and I was immersed in every single second of the whole process so this is my baby."

As with world famous performers Andrea Boccelli and Russell Watson, the Melbourne based tenor's philosophy behind the track listing is simple - bring classical music to the world by performing it with a pop attitude. Like 'Boots', 'For You' features brand new compositions written specially for Brocklehurst. Maestro and mentor Vladimir Vais returns with an enchanting piece entitled 'The Winter Of Love' while songwriter Graeham Goble who penned his first single 'Praise' contributes the beautiful 'Stormy Surrender'. Cheryl Beattie and John Grant provide the third and final original 'If You Say' which features backing vocals by his teenage daughters, Lisa (16) and Cathy (19).

Classics from Puccini, Cilea and Mario Lanza are stamped with Peter's inimitable style, as are John Denver's masterpieces 'Perhaps Love' and the title track 'For You', which perfectly compliment the awe-inspiring duet with Bonnie Tyler on her '80s smash 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart'.

Other special guests on the album include visually impaired Melbourne based busker Bernadette Conlon, famed soprano Margaret Orr and musician Michelle Moon.

"I really wanted to sing with Bonnie, she's a legend, one of my heroes. She's gracious and beautiful and the song is fantastic."

With his lifelong dream of recording classical music now a realisation, Peter Brocklehurst surges forward through the release of 'For You', motivated by his mission to make classical music accessible to both young and old.
