music. A&R is responsible for finding new artists and signing
them to our record label. Our A&R staff continually seek out
new talent through listening to demo tapes, attending hundreds of
live gigs- whether in pubs, dance clubs, rehearsal studios or talent
schools.

The Marketing
Department is responsible for marketing of all Sony Music artists
in creating and implementing effective marketing strategies which
promote our artists and their music. The Marketing Department works
closely with our Sales, Promotions & Publicity Departments and
are in constant communication with Sony Music international affiliates
in co-ordinating worldwide marketing plans, in conjunction with
local initiatives, to support our artists.

& Publicity |
National
Promotions & Publicity co-ordinate all promotional activity
for our Artists through all facets of media. Promotions &
Publicity staff contact media daily to create exposure for our
artists and make weekly visits to radio stations to promote and
secure airplay for our artists. A large part of their time is
spent working on promotional schedules for artist appearances
or live performances. This includes television appearances, radio
interviews, photo shoots, signings at record stores, media and
retail showcase performances and all events to promote the release
of their product.

Strategic
Marketing comprises of a number of Divisions within Sony Music such
as Imports, Classical & Jazz, Children's Music, Sony Music DVD
and music videos. The Department's major activity is creating and
releasing compilation albums, as well as re-marketing albums with
previous chart success.

Our Sales
Department is responsible for servicing some of Australia's largest
National chain stores and retail accounts. They are responsible
for raising awareness of our Artists at retail level as well as
processing orders, in-store merchandising, maintenance of catalogue
ranges and the implementation of all in-store promotional programs.

Our Music
Publishing Department deals with songs and the songwriter and controls
the copyright of our songwriters' music. Music Publishing actively
pursues creative collaborations between songwriters and performers
and encourages other performers to record our songwriters' music.
They also pursue opportunities in film and television for our songwriters'
music.

Studios operates as a business within Sony Music Australia. It provides
services such as recording, audio production, pre-mastering, dubbing
and CD duplication.

Business
Affairs is responsible for overseeing the legal, business and corporate
affairs of Sony Music Australia. They also negotiate all Recording,
Publishing and Licensing contracts on behalf of Sony Music.

The aim of
the Human Resources Department is to assist management with strategic
planning and to provide advice, support and guidance to Sony Music
employees. The HR team is also involved in general staffing issues
such as recruitment, performance management, training & development
and Occupational Health & Safety.

The role
of the Finance Department includes approving marketing expenditure,
payment of royalties to our artists and general finance functions.
Our Finance Department is made up of various divisions such as
Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Accounting, Management

Payroll.

Our IT Department
is involved in all aspects of the business, ensuring that Sony Music
adopts up-to-date technology, such as our B2B site and Intranet.
The efforts of the division revolve around the development and introduction
of computer software applications, as well as providing general
PC support.

Sony Music
has its own in-house Advertising Department which, in conjunction
with each record label, is responsible for negotiating advertising
deals and creating our television, radio and press advertising.

| Manufacturing |
The Huntingwood
site is a purpose-built disc manufacturing site. The site boasts
the latest 4th generation production techniques featuring compact
integrated in line automated processes for moulding, sputtering,
spin coating and quality control. They are capable of manufacturing
CD Audio, CD-ROM and CD-I multimedia, Playstation PS1, DVD5 and
DVD9 disc formats. There are 8 Sololiners, each capable of producing
approximately 15,000 discs every 24 hours to give a total capacity
of 120,000 discs per day , and the DVD line is capable of producing
12,000 to 15,000 discs per day.

The Huntingwood
site is a one-stop-shop printing facility. The team offers a variety
of services from estimating and quoting, formulating imposition
layouts for platemaking, processing and organisation of printing
and finishing of cartoons, booklets and point of sale materials.
A full range of printing activities including sheet-fed printing
on Roland, Komori and Heidelberg presses, cutting, creasing, binding
and finishing services are available on site.

The Customer
Service Department is dedicated to supporting Sony Music's customers.
The team endeavours to find and develop solutions to meet special
product requirements. A large part of their time is spent liasing
with customers, processing orders and working with internal departments
to ensure timely release of Sony Music's finished products.

The Sony
Music Mastering department supplies the replication facility with
masters for audio, enhanced CD (CD-Extra), Video CD and DVD. It
is the last of the three (recording, mixing and mastering) creative
stages in the development of material for release on optical disc
formats. Mastering is the bridge between the artist and the production
facility, combining creative and artistic skills with technical
know how. Utilising aspects of programming, authoring, engineering
and production to deliver the most dynamic content to consumers
both local and overseas.

The Sony
Music Pre-Press Department has state-of-the-art file processing
facilities using the latest Computer-To-Plate technology. Files
may be altered or just processed using this technology, which not
only saves time, but also provides a crisp and accurate representation
of the design using plates which require minimal adjustment on the
printing press.

Design studios are located in our Huntingwood and East Sydney offices.
Equipped with the latest technology, the graphic designers' work
involves creative conceptual design through to high resolution digital
artwork. The department design a wide range of print media for music
albums, video & DVD sleeves and advertising campaigns.
